GIDDIS were engaged to undertake due diligence investigations for the expansion of their existing CBD data centre involving augmentation of existing power supplies and spatial planning. During this time GIDDIS introduced Macquarie Telecom to a site at North Ryde that provided a much greater result, and the expansion plans were disbanded in favour of developing a brand new facility. GIDDIS was subsequently engaged to provide turnkey project management services for this major mission critical data centre project. The delivery program for this tier III, 8-megawatt facility was 18 months from site acquisition to go live. This was the first project in the Oceania Region to be awarded the prestigious Uptime Institute Tier III Certification.
This project captured the full range of services offered by GIDDIS including site identification, acquisition due diligence, delivery model selection, concept development and budgeting, programming, consultant selections and engagements, DA preparation, submission and negotiations with authorities, detailed design management, early procurement of $6M worth of long lead time equipment, value engineering, Expression of Interest, tender and engagement of Construction Manager, development and negotiation of contractual documents, peer review of design, construction supervision, monitoring of open book trade procurement, superintendent role, time and cost monitoring and reporting, authority negotiations and management of client equipment installations.
